Go to IrvineMDT

1.    Follow   IrvineMDT

2.    Send Direct Msg to IrvineMDT  e.g. "D IrvineMDT Good Luck all teams"

Want to know who’s ahead in that game?  What about the parking situation?  Find out the latest on the Irvine Memorial Day Tournament. We’ve setup a Twitter account so you know what’s happening.  The Twitter account is IrvineMDT.

Instructions:

  1. Create a Twitter account.  If you need help, check out http://bit.ly/Ptkw (case-sensitive) or http://twitter.com/help.  Be careful about text message charges.

  2. After you’ve created the account, login and do a “Find People” of IrvineMDT and “Follow” it.   (If, for some reason, Twitter does not find IrvineMDT, just enter Twitter.com/IrvineMDT on the address line of your browser and hit enter.  Then, just click on the “Follow” button.)

  3. When you have something to share, like the update to a game, send a direct message to IrvineMDT.  The way that is done varies by the Twitter client you use.  If you're using the Twitter web site directly, click on “Direct Messages” to get to the page to send the message to IrvineMDT.  The text command is:

    “D   <account name>   <message>”

so a typical message would look like this:

“D IrvineMDT Mustang A Irvine Red & Mexico going into extra innings!”

  4. All these tweets will be visible in your main (Twitter) feed.

Notes:

  1. Since there is one feed for the entire tournament, please provide enough information that readers are not confused, e.g., there are lots of Irvine teams and lots of Mustang teams.  For instance, if the above example had simply been:

“D IrvineMDT Irvine and Mexico going into extra innings!”

a lot of people following other teams would get excited.

  2. IrvineMDT will need to follow your Twitter account – so don’t block it.

  3. If you forget to make the update a direct message, it will be posted, but people will have to work to find it.  You can make that easier by putting a tag on it, like “#IRVINEMDT”.

  4. Remember, Twitter feeds (tweets) are limited to 140 characters.

  5. For those without cellular access, there should be wifi access at Harvard during the tournament, at least near the snack bar.

  6. If there is any bad behavior, please send an email to Irvine.MDT@gmail.com and we’ll try to stop it.

  7. In addition, if you have any feedback, please send an email to Irvine.MDT@gmail.com so that we can try to improve this feature next year.
